The Handflare MK8 conforms to SOLAS 74 as amended.

Designed to withstand exceptional environmental exposure and to perform reliably even after immersion in water.

Featuring a telescopic handle with improved grip, making it very compact for stowage.

Easily extended for safe handling and operation by pull wire ignitor.

Produces hot red flame for 60 seconds at 15000 candelas.

APPLICATION

For use day or night, the Comet Red Handflare is a short-range distress signal used to pinpoint position.

May be carried on ships bridge and six are required to be fitted in ships lifeboats and liferafts.

The handflare is suitable for use on other commercial and recreational boats.

OPERATION

  1. Pull out red end until telescopic tube is fully extended and engaged.

  2. Unscrew red end cap and point away.

  3. Pull ball out sharply to fire.

  4. Hold at arm's length. Point Downwind. End plug ejects after 2 seconds' delay.

SPECIFICATIONS

Measuring 175mm (6.9 in) when not extended and 280mm (11 in) with its handle pulled out, Comet Red Handflare has a diameter of 28mm (1.1 in) and a maximum weight of 176g (6.2 oz). Generating up to 15,000 candelas of light, this handflare can burn for up to 60 seconds and produces a red light when ignited via its pull-wire ignitor. Its net explosive content is maximum 63g (2.22 oz).


STORAGE

Ideally, product should be stored in the robust, specially designed Polybottle, or in a dry, easily accessed location at ambient temperature.

APPROVALS

Conforms to: SOLAS 74 as amended, IMO resolution MSC. 81(70) Part 1, (MED) 96/98/EC, BGV 426.004, BAM –P1-0594, 0589-P1-0617, USCG and other major maritime authorities worldwide.

There is a 2-day order processing time, all deliveries will be made within 3 - 5 working days.

Returns need to made within 14 days in order for us to arrange a refund or swap out of product. The product needs to be retuned in the same condition as received. There will be a 10% handling fee for any damaged packaging.
